Round 6: NRFL Premier Women’s Update

Good luck to our Womens Premier team over the bridge at Glenfield Rovers AFC later today. Kick off 1pm. Reserves kick off at 10.45am.
Last week the team come out top over a determined Claudelands Rovers. Here's what coach Alessandro Fantoni had to say.

6 games, won 2, drawn 1 and 3 losses. How has the start of the season gone for you?

Considering the 3 losses, the team has improved a lot, individually and collectively. Of the goals conceded, they were lucky goals against us. The team has stood up competitively against big teams like Auckland United and Hamilton Wanderers. I'm very happy about that.

What's been your one big challenge and one big surprise this season?

Until now, our biggest challenge is scoring. My big surprise is the high level of technical and tactical skill demonstrated by our players and how they have adapted to my style of play.

Have you had a chance to watch any of the reserves and development games? any up and coming stars for us to keep an eye.

Yes I have watched a few games and I am encouraged by what I see in particular kitty and celias who have already been called up to play in the prem.

How is your coaching team getting on? How do you communicate with this throughout the week?

Very good we talk almost every day, especially with Kelly the team manager.

Any injury updates to share with us?

Yes, unfortunately, Sophia Dyer will be out for a little while

Your general thoughts on the quality of the league this year.

I am impressed with the very high standards of the league the calibre of players

Glenfield up next, what are you expecting from them this year?

I expect a very physical game from them this week, not sure how they'll go for the rest of the season
