IMPORTANT 2021 PREMIER WOMEN’S ANNOUNCEMENT

2021 will be an incredibly exciting year for our Women’s football development at Western Springs.

With New Zealand Football revamping the national leagues. Our Premier teams will compete in the Premier League of the Northern Regional Football League in the winter.

A top 4 finish, could see them qualify for a proposed National Championship which will take place in Spring.

This change in the National League structure is significant for Western Springs, it allows a pathway for our players to compete at the highest level.

Head of Women's Football, Ryan Faithfull

Our excitement of 2021 at Seddon Fields is further heightened by the appointment of Ryan Faithfull as the Head of Women's Football.

Ryan has recently returned to New Zealand after three years in the United States working with American professional soccer club Seattle Sounders FC (U17 Head Coach/Performance Analyst) and the professional women's soccer team OL Reign (U16 Head Coach). Before heading to the US Ryan’s formative coaching years in New Zealand included various coaching and analyst roles with NZ Football, Forrest Hill Milford, Mt Albert Grammar School and Auckland City FC.

Ryan will provide the club with strategic leadership to develop and implement a club-wide player and coach development strategy. His plans for 2021 are already in full swing. Our recent U-17 Youth Football Tournament allowed Ryan to get to know the Springs players as well as seeing what the wider Auckland talent pool had to offer.
