Grading is strictly based on the year of birth:
2009 - 13th Grade  |  2008 – 14th Grade | 2007 – 15th Grade  |  2006 – 16th Grade  |  2005 – 17th Grade  |  2004 – 18th Grade  |  2003 – 19th Grade


 

The focus for these grades is on developing their skills as part of a team playing in a safe and friendly environment that provides appropriate levels of competition to aid player development. 13th Grade play 9v9 and 14th - 19th Grade play 11v11 against other clubs throughout Auckland in a Northern Region Football (NRF) league.

TEAMS
U13 - maximum 13 players
U14 - U19 - squads usually consist of 16-17 players per team.

Where possible the Grade Coordinator in conjunction with the Head of Junior & Youth Football (Andy Vernon) will select teams based upon requests – friends, schools, previous teams (early requests are easier to meet). Teams are usually announced during late March and will be emailed out by the Grade Coordinator.

PITCH (Optimal)
U13 - 1/2 full pitch with 4m x 2m goals
U14 - U19 - full field

LENGTH OF GAME
U13 - 2 x 30 minute halves with 5 minutes half time

U14 - 2 x 40 minute halves with 5 minutes half time

U16 - 2 x 45 minute halves with 5 minutes half time

 

FORMAT

U13

  • 9v9 games including Goalkeepers
  • Goal kicks must be taken on the floor by passing out to a team mate
  • Throw-ins, free-kicks and penalties introduced
  • Offsides awarded as per FIFA rules

ORGANISATION
The weekly allocation of fixtures and field locations will be published on the Northern Region Football (NRF) website.

Home games are usually played at:

  • Seddon Fields, Meola Road
  • Cox’s Bay Reserve, West End Road
  • Walker Park, Walker Road
  • Eastdale Reserve, corner of Rosebank Road and Eastdale Reserve

Away games are usually played at other club locations throughout Auckland (e.g. usually as far as Drury to the south and Bucklands Beach to the east, with some games ‘over the bridge’ for the Metro and Conference teams).

PARENTS/SUPPORTERS

Should watch games from behind the fence or on the balcony. Provide encouragement to all players but leave specific football comments to the coach.

Those interested in playing an active role supporting the players could:

- Manage a team – working with the coach
- Coach a team for 1-2 training and 1 game per week
- Enrol in a Club Based Referee (CBR) course so they can referee games.
- Run the line as an Assistant Referee.

TEAM KITS

All players should wear 'Springs' shirt, shorts and socks. These can be purchased online through the WSAFC website or instore at Soccer Scene in Point Chevalier. It is recommended that shin pads are worn, and turf Boots are compulsory on the turf.

All coaches and managers are required to wear turf boots on the turf.


 

Teams

Pre-season all registered U13 - U19 players are invited to attend Player ID Sessions to be part of a WSAFC NRFL Youth, Girls Premier or other NRF girls team. Players selected into the U14 & U16 NRFL Youth teams will train 3x weekly, U13 Girls Premier team will train 2x weekly, and all other NRF girls teams will train 1x weekly.  Games for all grades will take place on Saturdays usually with kick off between 10am and 1pm.
