Coach and Referee Education Courses

The New Zealand Football (NZF) Coach Education consists of two pathways, “Community” and “Advanced”, allowing coaches to learn knowledge and skills that are specific to their situation.
Beginning coaches can enter the Community pathway at the Introduction level or, if they believe that previous playing and coaching experience provides them with a higher base of knowledge, can immediately enter the Advanced pathway.

Introduction to Junior Coaching & Fit4Football 11+Kids

Monday 10 May 6:30pm - 9:00pm at WSAFC Clubrooms

This is the first step for new coaches and provides information on how to organise a safe and fun football session for players aged 4-12 years.  

Content includes:

- The role of a game leader/coach
- An introduction to football games & activities
- Meeting the needs of junior footballers.

The time will be a mixture of classroom-based and field-based time. Please bring turf boots and a waterproof.

Youth Level 1 

Monday 17 May 6:00pm - 9:00pm at WSAFC Clubrooms

This is ideal for coaches who want to work with groups of young players and provides a fantastic insight into coaching football with players aged 13+.

Content includes;

- The playing environment;
- Meeting youth footballer’s needs; dealing with difference; and how to adapt activities for different groups.
The time will be a mixture of classroom-based and field-based time. Please bring turf boots and waterproof.

Junior Level 1 & Fit4Football 11+kids

Sunday 30 May 12:00pm - 4:00pm at WSAFC Clubrooms

This course is perfect for people who are looking to improve their coaching and to develop their knowledge and understanding of how to encourage junior players aged 4-12 years to fall in love with the game while maximising skill acquisition at this important age.

Content includes:

- What is an effective coaching session?
- The qualities of a football coach working with junior players; and meeting the needs of junior footballers.

The time will be a mixture of classroom-based and field-based time. Please bring turf boots and a waterproof.

Junior Level 2

Sunday 13 June 12:00pm - 3:00pm &
Monday 14 June 6:30pm - 9:30pm at WSAFC Clubrooms

This course is for coaches looking to build on their coaching experiences and further develop their thinking, knowledge and understanding while focusing on the 4-12 age range. The time will be a mixture of classroom-based and field-based time. Please bring turf boots and a waterproof.

NZF Community Referee Courses

These are aimed at anybody who would like to take on the important role of the referee either in 7v7, 9v9 or 11v11 games this season.  These courses will share the important rules and give you the confidence to make a positive impression.
Community Referee - Juniors (U9-U12)
Tuesday 18th May 7:00-8:00pm
Community Referee - Youth/Senior (U13 up)
Tuesday 25th May 6:00-9:00pm
