GIRLS ACADEMY 2021

Aligning with the New Zealand Football Talent Development Programme (TDP), Western Springs AFC provides year-round Football development opportunities for our youth athletes.

Our aim is to develop footballers to reach their highest potential in a footballing context and additionally give our athletes the skills/habits to excel in the modern world.

The Western Springs AFC Girls Academy operates with two squads of approximately 16 girls each aged 13 - 16 years. These players will make up our two Premier Female Youth teams to compete in the 14th and 16th Grade NRFL Youth Competition across the Auckland and Waikato region.

Academy teams have a dual-age band with all players born in 2007 & 2008 selected for 14th grade and players born 2006 & 2005 selected for 16th Grade.

Academy training will be on Monday, Tuesday and Thursday evenings (5:30pm - 6:45pm), at Seddon Fields with matches taking place on Saturday afternoons (typically 1:00pm - 2:00pm kickoff). The training calendar will align with the school term;

Training Schedule
Term 1: 10 weeks - Feb 9th - April 16th
Term 2: 11 weeks - April 26th - July 9th
Term 3: 11 weeks - July 19th - October 1st
Term 4: TBC dependent on NCEA exam timetable

Cost
Premier players will be required to pay $250 per term to cover costs of coaching.

Academy Training Shirt
All players will be required to wear an Academy training shirt during all Academy training sessions.
These can only be purchased online. Please click here to view and order. Shorts and socks are also available but not compulsory.
Wearing the Academy kit helps us to raise the bar on the players preparedness and focus for each session.
