WSAFC U17 Youth Tournament huge success
Congratulations to all teams from around New Zealand who took part in the massive U17 Youth Tournament at Seddon Fields 4-7 December.
Plenty of great football, great talent, and great friendships too with thanks to all tournament sponsors, food truck partners and especially the organisors ensuring the tournament ran smoothly.
In the Men's Championship Fencibles beat Melville 1-0 to take the title in hot conditions in front of a big crowd. Melville had earlier accounted for Christchurch United 5-4 in the semifinals while Fencibles beat Auckland United in their semi.
The WSAFC Green Men's team won all three games in Pool B before a win, draw and loss in the top-16 Pool Z. The WSAFC White Men's side had a draw and a couple of losses in Pool F and then three narrow losses in Pool V,
The Women’s Championship Final between Eastern Suburbs and FC Tauranga Moana saw Tauranga dominate the early stages to eventually take the title 2-0.
The WSAFC Women's Green team had four wins and one loss in pool play to make the quarterfinals where they lost to Melville. The WSAFC White team showed plenty of improvement before losing in the Bowl quarterfinals.
