PREMIER MEN ON THE WRONG SIDE OF A CUP CLASSIC RESULT
It was a classic cup game with so many twists and turns but ultimately it was the one that got away.
Head Coach Chris Zoricich looks back on a weekend with a few positives.
An epic game but sadly we're out. It took us a while to get going. You made two halftime subs which saw a hugely improved second half. What did you see that you felt needed the change?
I thought we were poor in the first half. We didn’t play to our structure and we had no energy. That was the main reason for the changes to provide us with some energy and enthusiasm.
It was tough to concede the equaliser so late, but it really was a great effort in the second half. That must have been satisfying?
Yes much improved second half and great to get back into the game but being 2-1 up with three mins to go we should see out the game. This has been our issue all season so far. Conceding goals at crucial moments in games.
It was great to see Gerard Garriga back, his knee got a pretty solid workout, how was he feeling afterward? (knee-related, not penalty!)
Yes good to have GG back. He gives us energy and organization. Obviously, he was extremely tired having to go over 90 minutes but apart from that, he came out of the game unscathed. Hopefully, he can stay injury free for the rest of the season.
West Coast Rangers this Friday and a chance to end the night back up to 3rd. That's a good incentive right?
Yes we have no cup distractions now so have to focus fully on trying to get into that top four. The game this Friday is a good chance to start cementing our place in that top part of the table although WCR will be a different prospect to the team we played in the first game of the season. They have improved immensely although results are not going their way. We will have to be at our best to get a result.
