Another challenge overcome. Our Premier Women team has kept up their winning start to the season.
Head Coach Ryan Faithfull gave us his weekly update as he looks ahead to a 1st v 2nd game against Hamilton on Sunday
Congrats on the win. A real 90 minute performance from the team. We got stronger as the game went on. Was that the most pleasing part for you?
I was happy for the players to create and score three entertaining goals and I was also pleased to earn a clean sheet against a tough Eastern Suburbs team.
You said Suburbs would be difficult to break down, were you happy with how the team executed the game plan?
Eastern Suburbs lined up differently to how we expected with the return of midfielder Rebecca Burrows. They were a tough team to breakdown in position and we had to work hard and assert ourselves to exploit their weaknesses.
So three games in, the squad look settled and happy. Give us three words that describe the squad's personality.
Ambitious, Togetherness, Bold.
What is one piece of advice you'll give to the team this week to help keep their focus?
There is never just one piece of advice. As a team, we work hard to continually improve our game model and understanding of game situations. It’s important we review our performance against Eastern Suburbs and take these key learnings into our next match.
Hamilton up next weekend and a Sunday game. Hamilton is tracking along nicely in second place. They look to have a good team this year. This means a change to your recent routine. Will you adjust the training schedule?
Yes Hamilton is a very competitive team and has shown this in the last three matches of this season. They have an organised and hard-working midfield and will be tricky to break down. We won’t change our training schedule, but we will need to adjust our physical load across the week to ensure players don’t lose their sharpness with not training for two days before the match.
