Round 2: Five Minutes with Chris Zoricich

NRFL Premier League Round 2:
Springs v Auckland United

Post-match review with head coach Chris Zoricich

Your thoughts on the 2-1 loss? Deserved or unlucky?

We weren’t able to execute our game plan against Auckland United and they executed theirs well against us. Unfortunately, we didn’t get off to the flying start we had in the first game and I felt we were never in a position to do so given our shape was not correct most of the first half. Credit to them for doing their homework on us and stopped our main threats.

After the sending off 5 minutes into the second half it was always going to be a difficult task against an experienced side like Auckland United. We did well to contain them to scoring only one goal in the second half.

Just 1 change to the starting line up from last week. Will you make more changes for this week's game?

We played the same starting X1 as I felt those players that started the first game deserved the chance to do the same again. Unfortunately, that wasn’t the case and yes it has opened up potential opportunities to make changes. We have one enforced change with Samu being suspended after his red card on Saturday.

Hamilton at Seddon for a rare 3pm kick-off. They have started with 2 losses, a 5-4, and a 1-0. A team you know pretty well from last season and even the ISPS Handa Premiership. What are you expecting from them?

Although they have had two losses I’m expecting a tough encounter. I’ve watched both games and they are a strong team with definite threats that can hurt any team. We will have to be at our best to compete with them.

Another tight game for the development squad. How did this performance rank off the back of last week's game? Good to see Scott Sellars playing.

I didn’t get to see a lot of the second half but from what I’ve been told it was a better performance. We again had some first-team squad players gain some valuable game time to keep their conditioning up.

A couple of younger players also got good game time in Max Sutton, Rayan Tayeb, and Adama Coulibaly.
