Completed Initiatives

The following initiatives were implemented to further the options and opportunities for women and girls to play football at Springs, and have contributed to the success of the Springs female program over the last 5+ years.

Introduced 

Fantails Programme Introduced

The Fantails programme has been introduced with fantastic attendance numbers (≈50). The programme is aimed at encouraging all girls aged 5-12 years, regardless of ability to come and try football for the first time or continue playing football in a fun and safe environment, free of charge!

Premier Team Allowances and Benefits Equalised

The expense reimbursement budget for male and female Premier squads was equalised, and the policy that determines how the budget is allocated was standardised across male and female players. From July 2023 onwards the men and women’s Premier squad expense reimbursement budget are equal

Qualified Club Paid Coaches for U9 to U16 Female Academy Teams

Increased the number of Club paid coaches responsible for developing our youth girls (matching that provided in the mixed space). The Club provides qualified paid coaches for U9 – U16 Academy Teams

Clearer Junior and Youth Playing Pathways and Options

Clearer pathways and playing options available to our junior and youth female players were defined – with more prominence provided on our WSAFC website

Policy Developed that Provides Equal Access to Training & Playing Resources for Premier Women’s and Men’s Teams

Policy introduced to ensure equal access to pitches and changing rooms for both training and game days across our male and female Premier teams

Mid 2022

New Head of Women’s Football Role Introduced

Head of Women’s Football role introduced to focus on development of all Springs female footballers, including coaching and developing our Women’s Premier Team

November 2020

Girls’ Football Portfolio in Junior Committee Introduced

A Girls’ football portfolio for the Junior committee was introduced to provide focus on development of girls junior and youth football

Girls only Academies Introduced

Girls only Academy Teams have been introduced over the last 5 seasons
(U14 & U16 2019, U11-U13 2021, U9-U10 2023)

Girls also have the option of playing in mixed teams

Girls only Skills Centres introduced (girls also have the option of attending mixed Skills Centres)
