Planning for our 2020 season in the Womens NRFL Premiership, Reserve and Development squads are well underway.
Rebecca O’Neill, who has been a great leader of our Senior Womens NRFL squad over the past two seasons has unfortunately stepped aside to focus on other priorities for her and her family. We would like to thank Rebecca for all her hard work and commitment to Womens Football at Western Springs and hope to see her back in the near future.
We are in the process of identifying and appointing a Head Coach for 2020, which we hope to have more information on for you early in the new year.
To ensure our preparations for 2020 are well advanced, we have made some immediate appointments and welcome back Joe Cavanagh (acting Head Coach), Matt Upton (Development/Reserve Coach and Assistant Coach) and Kelly Bolus (Team Manager) who have collectively commenced building out the 2020 pre-season programme.
Meetings have also been undertaken with some senior team members including our NRFL captain Emma Phelps, ensuring their critical input is built into our 2020 campaign.
Joe was guided and mentored by Rebecca last year, we are therefore confident, as are last year’s squad, that we will continue to see the style of play employed continue to be developed along with the development of the team and each individual.
Matt Upton has been instrumental in developing our junior girls and his inclusion in the management and coaching team will assist with the pathway and transition for our youth players into the senior environment.
We are also very pleased to advise that we hope to see the return of Rina and Arisa, who made a big impact both on and off the pitch at Springs last year.
