2025 Women & Girls Plan

To view a list of initiatives being delivered by the 2025 Women & Girls Plan please see the 2025 Women & Girls Plan Progress sheet.

Based on implementing the 2024 Women & Girls Plan, feedback from the February 2024 club-wide survey, feedback from a Women & Girls survey issued in October 2024, and anecdotal feedback the Women & Girls Working Group  developed a 2025 Women & Girls Plan that outlines initiatives that will be delivered in 2025 to further improve the Women & Girls experience at Springs.

Initiatives that have been delivered so far as part of the 2025 Women and Girls Plan include:

  • Integrated Women & Girls Plan goals into the overall Club strategy
  • We now have a mural painted ‘wall ball’ area at far end of the clubrooms, and rebound boards / fence boards installed in the corners of pitches 2 and 6 both designed to help players improve their passing and 1st touch
  • Women’s Football 101 Football Skills sessions have been run in terms 1 & 2 and have been very popular! These sessions are designed to provide a fun, non-judgemental, positive environment where anyone can develop their football skills as a complete beginner or as someone who is getting back into the game after a break
  • We now have changing room 4 dedicated to Women & Girls use only on Monday to Friday
  • Some successful events have been run (with more planned!):
    • In May, we ran a Future Springs Kick About which gave our Junior and Youth girls an opportunity to meet and enjoy a kick around with our Women’s Premier Team.
    • In March, in conjunction with NRF, we ran a Women in Football Event designed to inspire a new group of female referees, coaches and football leaders in the lead up to the 2025 season
  • The WSAFC Supporters Club now offers stemless wine glasses (as well as ‘Handles’) for our members to enjoy a sneaky beverage! Ask at the bar to get your own engraved glass!
  • Women’s only strength and conditioning sessions were run in Term 1
  • Four goalkeeper training sessions for the women’s community team goalkeepers have been run
  • For the 2025 season all Academy & Pre-Academy teams have a female Head Coach
  • WhatsApp groups have been setup for our NRF Girls and Girls Hub teams to help enable these teams to better connect with each other and with the club
  • Boots to borrow (including women’s and baby sizes) and boots to swap are now available in the clubrooms
  • A Job Opportunities page has been setup to inform of jobs available to our junior and youth members and others
  • A second Development team continues to operate in the 2025 season – this team provides a pathway for U16 players transitioning to Senior football who may not be quite ready for our Premier environment yet
  • The Fantails programme and girls only holiday programme continue to be offered and are well attended. The girls only school holiday programme has been extended from one to two days per week for the July school holidays.
  • Free sanitary products continue to be available in the upstairs club room toilets for all to use
