Over 100 Youngsters Attend Inspiring W&G Evening

23 Jul

Over 100 WSAFC players, some as young as 8 years old, had a special opportunity to hear from a number of incredible role models we’re lucky to have involved with our club.

On 21 July, we hosted a special Women and Girls Evening at Seddon Fields, featuring an hour-long Q&A session with several of our Premier Women’s players and coaching staff.

Fifteen of our current Premier Women’s players took part, each bringing a wealth of experience from football around the world, including New Zealand, but also for other nations across the Pacific. We are fortunate to have players who have had professional contracts, university scholarships, and multiple FIFA Women’s World Cup appearances, as well as their ongoing committment to the Lotto NRFL Women's Premiership side.

It was an amazing opportunity to showcase, share, and inspire the next generation of Springs players, with a packed clubroom full of engaged young players, their parents, and team managers.

“That was such a great event for the girls! Thank you so much, Roodie and Katie, and everyone who helped organise it - and to all of the fab speakers too.”

“I thought it was great! Pretty inspiring to see all those successful women and such a strong message about perseverance. I also loved hearing about the avenues in football beyond playing. My daughter is inspired!”

This event is one of many Women and Girls Initiatives supported by the club, aligned with the WSAFC Club Strategy and our vision to be New Zealand’s leading community football club.

A big thank you to Hells Pizza: Grey Lynn, a proud member of our Business Network Group, for keeping everyone fuelled on the night!
