Boys and Girls Born 2015 (and girls born in 2014)
Players can attend these sessions with the aim of playing in a Pre-Development team during 2024. The Pre-Development teams play their weekly games on Saturday mornings and are a stepping stone towards playing in a Pre-Academy team. While the majority of players choose to play in teams alongside friends in the in-house games on Sunday mornings. Players in the Pre-Development teams may be more motivated - and will be committed to train 2x weekly during the main season (terms 2 & 3).
ID Sessions 2024:
- Thursday 15 February 4-5pm
- Friday 23 February 4-5pm
Skill Centre Mixed U9-10 trainings run during Term 1 for any players - register on Friendly Manager for either day
- Mondays 4-5pm from 19 February to 8 April
- Thursdays 4-5pm from 22 February to 11 April
U9 Pre-Development teams for 2024 will be selected by Monday 18 March for Term 2 & 3 training and games
- These 2x Pre-Development teams will train 2x weekly during terms 2 & 3 with 1x Skill Centre training (with Academy Coaches) and 1x team training (volunteer/parent coach), with a game on a Saturday morning (volunteer/parent coach)
- Additional Coaching fees will apply for the Skill Centre sessions

To register to attend Player Identification sessions (this is free and different to club registration for the season) for an Pre-Development Team, click on the button below. It would be helpful with planning sessions if players attending could register at least 24 hours before.
Additional information
- Only players who have registered for Western Springs AFC for 2023 may be selected for a team. Register here and follow steps - registrations open during early February.
- Players whose priority is to play with friends (or stay in the same teams as in 2023) should not attend these sessions but instead will be placed in teams by their grade coordinator once club registrations close. Players can share these preferences when registering for the 2024 season.
Day of session
- Players should arrive 15 minutes before it starts to register their arrival and be allocated a bib
- Players should bring a full drink bottle to speed up breaks so we play more football
- Players should wear turf boots, shin pads and appropriate football clothing
