Indigo Kirk embarks on new Scholarship to the US
WSAFC would like to wish all the very best to Women’s Premier Team player Indigo Kirk as she embarks on her exciting journey through her US soccer scholarship to Wilmington University in Delaware.
Wilmington University competes in NCAA Division II in the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference.
Indi is one of our most exciting young players and has proudly worn the green and white hoops since joining the club as a youngster, working her way through the grades all the way up to the Women’s Premier squad.
She has played in various teams, including our Junior Grades, Academy, Girls National Youth League squads, and, more recently, graduated into our competitive Women’s Development and Women’s Premier Teams.
Indi has contributed in key moments this season, including scoring the winner in a cross-town clash vs. Eastern Suburbs in the NRFL Women’s Premier, a goal that also won NRFL Goal of the Week.
Captain Tiana Hill says has seen Indi's development at Springs first hand:
“We have seen Indi take her game to new heights in the last 12 months. She consistently puts in bold and impactful performances. Indi is a vibrant core of our Springs whanau who will be deeply missed. We wish her nothing but greatness in the next step in her footy journey!”
Indigo is one of our young leaders who has made an incredible impact on the future of Western Springs AFC players. She has regularly led coaching sessions for our Academy players, School Holiday Football, and various other football coaching programmes over the years.
Senior Chair Alec Flood wished Indigo all the very best for her next chapter:
"I’ve really enjoyed coaching you and watching you develop into a Premier player and a great person. I hope you continue your development in the USA and take advantage of all the experiences it can offer. You will always be welcomed back at Springs."
Senior Committee Member Julie Dunn also has fond memories of Indi and her impact on the teams she has played for:
"Having known Indi since she was at Primary school and coached her in U16s in 2021, I’ve loved watching Indi progress through the grades to now be part of the Premier Women’s squad. I’ve always admired her tough, uncompromising style of play and her never-say-die attitude on the field. I am super excited to see what this next adventure brings for Indi and hope she has the best time in the US!"
We would also like to extend our thanks to Indigo’s family, who have followed and supported her throughout her journey at the club.
We all can’t wait to see you shine in your next chapter. Good luck, Indi!
