Western Springs AFC has a long history tracing its roots all the way back to 1923. The current club was formed through the amalgamation of Grey Lynn Celtic and Pt Chevalier AFC in 1989.
Services Overview
Our Women’s Premier team competes in the NRFL Women’s Premiership, and we are seeking a highly motivated, experienced Head Coach to lead the team in this competitive league for the 2025 season.
The Women’s Premier Head Coach is responsible for all aspects of team training and game day performance in the NRFL Women’s Premier League. This role, reporting to the General Manager, focuses on maximizing team performance, developing players, and ensuring tactical and technical preparation for matches. As an independent contractor, the Head Coach will be expected to create an environment of professionalism and high performance, ensuring the team competes at the highest level.
Requirements
- OFC/NZF B Licence (or recognised overseas equivalent) required. Higher-level coaching qualifications such as a OFC/NZF A Licence are a plus.
- Proven experience in coaching competitive women’s football teams, particularly in a performance environment.
- Strong ability to lead and motivate players, with excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- A strong commitment and passion to women’s football and its continued development.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and deliver effective, high-quality training sessions that focus on technical, tactical, and physical player development, preparing the team for match day.
- Lead the team during match days, making tactical decisions, motivating players, and providing in-game adjustments to optimize performance.
- Select the team for matches based on performance, tactical needs, and player development goals. Ensure squad rotation and player engagement are managed throughout the season.
- Provide guidance and feedback to players, focusing on individual development while ensuring the team’s collective goals are met.
- Develop game plans and strategies based on team strengths and opponent analysis. Adjust tactics as necessary throughout the season to achieve desired outcomes, in line with the WSAFC Style of Play and Philosophy guidelines.
- Oversee pre-match preparation, including tactical discussions, and conduct post-match reviews to analyze performance, providing constructive feedback to players and staff.
Contract Details
Contract Type: This is an independent coaching contractor position.
Hours: Part time and flexible hours including evenings and weekends.
Location: Western Springs AFC, Seddon Fields, Auckland.
Contract Duration: Until the end of the 2025 season, dependent on National League Qualification.
Rate of Pay: Compeitive renumeration dependant on qualifications and expirience.
