WSAFC commit to “Love Their Game” campaign
Following the launch of our own Love Your Club campaign last month, we’re proud to announce our support for the newly released Love Their Game campaign, led by Aktive, Auckland Sport and Recreation, and supported by Northern Region Football.
Our own Love Your Club campaign reflects our ongoing commitment to creating a positive and inclusive environment, both on and off the field, as part of our wider social responsibility focus. This campaign emphasises the upkeep and tidiness of our lost property area, changing rooms, and, of course, our turf playing fields, all vital to ensuring a safe and enjoyable environment for our 3,000-strong membership.
Now, we’re taking that commitment further by joining over 30 clubs across the region in supporting Love Their Game, an initiative that promotes positive sideline behaviour in youth sport.
Love Their Game is all about reinforcing positive sideline behaviour that creates quality sporting experiences for everyone involved, particularly young people. This is important because:
-
50% of kids who play sport stop by the age of 11, with poor sideline behaviour being a key contributor.
-
61% of recently surveyed parents, carers, and supporters said they had witnessed poor sideline behaviour in sports within the past 12 months.
We want all Springs parents, players, coaches, and supporters to enjoy a memorable, respectful, and positive experience, whether playing here at Seddon Fields, cheering from the sideline, or coaching from the dugout.
“Aucklanders are hugely passionate about sport, but sometimes this has unintended consequences, often to the detriment of our young people. We need to harness this passion in the right way, so everyone involved has a positive experience.” – Aktive
Both initiatives reflect our Club Strategy and align with our vision of being New Zealand’s leading community football club.
More tools, resources, and guides on how to help ensure a positive football experience for all will be released throughout the rest of the season!
