Western Springs AFC is a community-focused football club dedicated to fostering talent, passion, and inclusivity at all levels of the game, and have recently released the WSAFC Club Strategy 2025-2030. Western Springs AFC has a long history tracing its roots all the way back to 1923. The current club was formed through the amalgamation of Grey Lynn Celtic and Pt Chevalier AFC in 1989.

Services Overview:

Are you a mid-level operations professional looking to continue your career in sports management and football operations?

We are looking for a dynamic, detail orientated, and proactive Contractor for 24 hours per week to manage our Team Operations and Club Management processes. This part-time role, reporting to the General Manager, will be essential in building management and operational processes and will be responsible for the coordination and delivery of football operations across all levels of the club.

This role will work closely with coaches, players, volunteers, and administrators to ensure efficient and effective management of the club’s football activities.

Key Responsibilities:

● Oversee the planning and administration of football competitions, fixtures, and training schedules in conjunction with members of the Football Department.

● Manage player registrations, transfers, and compliance with NZ Football and federation regulations.

● Provide operational support to the coaching staff and technical teams.

● Coordinate match day logistics, including facilities, equipment, and referee allocations.

● Coordinate internal and external Tournament Requirements across Junior and Seniors.

● Procure, distribute, and manage club playing gear, working with assigned junior/youth and senior committee representatives.

● Assist with club events, tournaments, and community football initiatives.

● Maintain and update key operational documents and databases.

Collaboration & Reporting:

● Work closely with club staff, volunteers, and external partners to ensure alignment in process, policy, procedure and reviews.

● Report on the effectiveness of communication strategies and provide suggestions for improvement.

Skills and Qualifications:

Ideal for mid-level candidates with a strong interest in sports administration, management and operation (previous experience in sports organisations or clubs is a plus).

● Advantageous to have previously studied or currently studying for a Sports Management Degree.

● Excellent attention to detail and the ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.

● Proficiency in Microsoft Office and sports administration platforms (e.g., COMET, Friendly Manager).

● Passion for football and community engagement is highly desirable.

Contract Details:

Hours: 24 hours per week (flexible scheduling including evenings and weekends)

Location: Western Springs AFC, Auckland

Contract Duration: 10 months with the potential for extension.

Rate of Pay: $30 per hour (plus GST if applicable)
