About Western Springs AFC:

Western Springs AFC (WSAFC) is a community-focused football club with a proud history dating back to 1923. Formed through the 1989 amalgamation of Grey Lynn Celtic and Pt Chevalier AFC, the club is committed to developing our people and serving our extensive and growing junior, youth and senior membership.

In line with our recently launched Club Strategy 2025–2030, we are seeking a passionate and experienced football leader to join our team.

The Role

This dual role combines strategic leadership as Head of Women’s Football with on-field responsibilities as Head Coach of the Women’s Premier Team competing in the NRFL Women’s Premiership.

As Head of Women’s Football, you’ll lead the long-term growth and sustainability of the women’s programme, aligning with WSAFC’s Club Strategy and Women & Girls Plan. You’ll oversee player and coach pathways from junior through senior, programme development, and stakeholder engagement.

As Women’s Premier Head Coach, you’ll manage all aspects of team preparation, performance, and development for the 2025 season. You’ll create a high-performance environment focused on technical, tactical, and physical excellence.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and deliver a long-term strategy for women’s football aligned with club values and existing plans such as the WSAFC Club Strategy & Women and Girls Plan.
  • Oversee player and coach development, competition structures, and operational delivery across the women's programme.
  • Build strong relationships with players, coaches, parents, community groups, and governing bodies, such as Northern Region Football
  • Plan and deliver high-quality training sessions; lead the Women’s Premier team on match days with tactical and motivational leadership.
  • Guide individual progress while aligning with team goals, manage squad selection, and provide regular feedback.
  • Develop game strategies, review match performances, and align with the WSAFC Style of Play and Philosophy.

Requirements

  • OFC/NZF B Licence (minimum), A Licence preferred.
  • Proven coaching experience in high-performance women’s football.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and team-building skills.
  • Strategic business planning and management capabilities.
  • Passion and commitment to advancing women’s football.

Contract Details

  • Type: Independent Contractor
  • Hours: Full-time, including evenings and weekends
  • Location: Seddon Fields, Western Springs, Auckland
  • Term: Until end of 2025 (option to extend)
  • Remuneration: Competitive, based on qualifications and experience
