Flynn Saxon- Heading to Harding University
I’ve played at Western Springs for 9 years now and for a variety of teams. Some of my highlights include winning the league back-to-back, winning Christchurch tournament, and making my first team debut when I was 17. Playing first team football has had a huge impact on me as a player as it helped me improve and showed me the level of talent in one of the top leagues in New Zealand. Lastly, I would like to thank WSAFC for everything they have done for me not only on but also off the field.
Taine Wilson- Heading to Quincy University
I’ve played at Western Springs ever since I started playing football from the age of 5/6. I’ve played for a variety of teams at the club as well as many different tournaments. One major highlight for me at Western Springs would be playing for the “Sea Monsters” in my junior years where I met and played with boys who are still some of my best mates to this day.Other than that, I would say that the culture and community within the club and from team to team is another highlight of the club for me.
Bradley Thomas- Returning to Southern Oregon University for his 3rd year after spending his summer break back at Western Springs.
“With my stint back home ending shortly, I want to thank WSAFC for the opportunity to represent the club, again. The culture within the team has been spectacular, and the lads have been supportive, driven, and really built a special bond. Thank you, Scotty and the coaching/support staff, the environment has been nothing shy of professional, which has directly related to team success. I am grateful to have played a role in what has and will continue to be a very successful season. I wish the boys all the best for the remainder of the league and Chatham Cup, and have no doubt they will be successful in the National League”.
Tadhg Collie- Off to The University of Findlay
I joined Western Springs from Metro in 2013. I played for WS Thunder for 2 seasons before playing for the Bullets from 14th to 17th grade. I then played a season in the U23's before making my first team debut in 2022.A couple of highlights from my time at Springs would include captaining and winning theChristchurch International Cup in 2018 and more recently making my 1 st team debut against Hamilton Wanderers last year.I would like to acknowledge all my Springs coaches: Tony, Neil, Andy, Joe, Maurie, Zoro, Scotty and Danyon. I am grateful for the opportunities they provided me. I also want to thank my teammates; it’s been a pleasure to play with you all.
Campbell McIntyre- heading off to Saint Joseph’s
TA D1 University in Philadelphia who compete in Atlantic 10 Conference to finish my Masters in Business. I moved to Western Springs this year for a new challenge and have learned a lot and enjoyed my time in a really competitive team. In particular I would like to thank Grant and Sina for helping me through my hamstring injury and getting my body fit and ready for my new challenge.
Joshua Clemas- heading to Quincy University.
I’m 18 years old and I am going to the states on scholarship to play football and study computer science. I joined Western Springs when I was 12 and the club has given me lots of friendships and memories that I will carry with me to another country to play the best I can in a completely new environment.
We'll keep an eye on all of your journeys and look forward to seeing you back in the green and white in the future.
